KDLA came into being after the member organisations with support from ZLA realized that there was need for such a network in the District due to a lot of land issues and disputes experienced in the area.
The Alliance was established in October 2011 to coordinate activities of ZLA at district level and this was after Alliance members under went a training in land advocacy organized by ZLA.
