Stand With Tubomba Pamo: Advocating for Disability Rights
Through relentless mobile campaigns conducted by the Kitwe District Land Alliance (KDLA) Kwacha office, Tubomba Pamo Physically Challenged Group has emerged as a powerful voice for disability rights and inclusion. During these mobile clinics financed by the Enabling Access to Justice, Civil Society Participation and Transparency (EnACT) program, KDLA highlighted the urgent need for inclusive development projects, ensuring that the voices of persons with disabilities are heard and respected. Inspired by this advocacy, Tubomba Pamo identified a piece of land to establish a structure for their operations and applied to Kitwe City Council. According to them, their application was unjustly rejected, with the council claiming the land was unsuitable for a permanent structure. Determined to secure their rightful place in the community, Tubomba Pamo proposed a temporary structure while awaiting approval. Shockingly, during this waiting period, another group began claiming the same land, asserting that they had documents from the Kitwe City Council. This blatant instance of alleged possible discrimination and possible corruption has sparked Tubomba Pamo to act. They are reaching out to government investigative wings, including the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Office of the Public Protector. They are also calling for collaboration with KDLA and other Civil Society Organizations while demanding a thorough investigation to ensure justice and uphold the human rights of persons with disabilities. š The Fight Continues! Tubomba Pamo's struggle underscores the importance of community-driven advocacy and the power of grassroots campaigns. Every person has the right to be included and treated fairly, regardless of physical ability. No one must be left behind. Stand with Tubomba Pamo in their fight for justice, transparency, and equal rights for all. Together, we can make a difference.
